Terms of service
These terms cover the arrangement between Press Setu and a newspaper publishing through it. They are written to be read by the publisher signing them rather than by a court afterwards.

Draft. This document has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It describes how Press Setu actually intends to operate, and it is published early so prospective customers can read it — but do not rely on it as a settled contract. Ask us and we will tell you where it stands.
What we provide
Press Setu provides the software a publication uses to run its website, its newsroom and its e-paper, hosted by us and reached at the publication's own domain.
Every publication runs on the same codebase. An improvement or a fix reaches all of them, which is the arrangement that makes the price possible — and it means we do not build features for one publication that the others cannot have.
Who owns the journalism
You do. Everything your newsroom writes, photographs, commissions or imports remains yours, in full, at all times. We claim no licence to it beyond what is technically required to store it and serve it to your readers.
That includes the archive you bring with you. Content imported from a publication's previous website belongs to that publication, and the operator's assertion of ownership at import is recorded in the audit log.
Who owns the software
We do. The subscription is a right to use it, not a transfer of it, and it does not extend to copying, reselling or running it yourself.
Your configuration — your branding, your sections, your staff accounts — is yours and moves with you.
Your domain stays yours
Domains are registered in the publication's name and remain under its control. We configure DNS and certificates; we do not hold the registration.
This is deliberate. A platform that holds its customers' domains holds its customers, and we would rather be stayed with than kept.
What you agree to
To publish lawfully, to hold the rights to what you publish, and to name a real person as the editor responsible for the publication.
Machine-drafted stories are published by a person, not automatically, and AI involvement is disclosed on the record and in a note readers can see. This is not configurable, and it protects you: undisclosed AI use is grounds for demotion or removal from Google News.
Ending it
Either side may end the arrangement with thirty days' notice in writing. You are not locked into a term beyond the period you have already paid for.
On termination we export your content to you in a usable form. Export is not something we withhold to keep a customer, and asking for it is not a negotiation.
Limits
We are liable for what the law makes us liable for and, beyond that, up to the fees paid in the twelve months before a claim. We do not accept liability for lost advertising revenue or lost readership arising from an outage.
That is a real limit and it is stated rather than buried, because a publisher should price it when deciding.
Which law
Indian law, and the courts of the jurisdiction in which Press Setu is registered. The registered entity and its address are stated on the invoice.
